The planning system requires the Waste DPD to be built upon a robust evidence base. Throughout the preparation of the Waste Plan, care has been taken to develop and update our knowledge and information on existing waste management arrangements and data in Merseyside and Halton.

The process of evidence gathering will continue throughout the plan preparation process. This will ensure that policy is developed on the basis of the best available information. As better or more up to date information becomes available this will be used to inform policy decisions and help to develop a monitoring framework.
