Welcome to Waste Planning Merseyside
This is the website for the Joint Merseyside Waste Development Plan Document (Waste DPD), your one stop shop for information on Merseyside and Halton’s emerging Waste Plan.
The way we manage waste in our sub-region needs to change for the sake of the environment and the Waste DPD is tasked with finding sustainable solutions that will help us for the next 15 years. It also makes good business sense to find efficient, cost effective ways to dispose of our waste.
We need to look at the amount of waste we are likely to produce, where it’s created and the number and types of facilities we need to deal with everything from domestic household waste to hazardous materials. The Waste DPD will also encourage the re-use, recycling and reprocessing of waste into valuable resources.
As part of the preparation of the Waste DPD, we will be regularly seeking your views on the emerging Waste Plan. Public consultation is held and you can find out more information by clicking here Your Views.
Your responses to consultation reports will help the best decisions to be made over the coming years. That is why your views are so important to us.
We hope this website will answer any queries you have and provide the information you require. Should you be unable to find the information you want, please Contact us.

Please note: the Waste DPD does not deal directly with the management and treatment of waste produced in Merseyside and Halton. Rather the Waste DPD aims sets up a long-term framework in which providers of waste management services can operate.
